BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC YACHT AVAILABLE FOR PRIVATE, GROUP AND CORPORATE CHARTER

Traditional Charter have built a Royal Navy cutter type which is a showpiece of maritime culture and expertise. It is the resurrected reality of an extinct breed of boat - a 37-ton vessel of a shape little seen since 1850. Her lines belong to the era of Nelson, where such craft served equally as Revenuemen, Smugglers, Naval Servicemen, then Fishermen. The same vessels and sailors were often employed by the establishment in legal enforcement: then were driven by necessity to more colourful methods of commerce - ‘Free Trade’ being the sport of gentlemen.

“Black Rose” is of traditional smack style, at 50 feet (15 m) in length with traditional rigging, and only wanders from history in the interior. The old working layout has been made more amenable for guests where corporate dining facilities have been arranged in comfortable Victorian surroundings. Her saloon would have been recognised easily by the gentlemen yachtsmen of the Victorian era.

“Black Rose” appeared in the BBC2 television programme “This Land” in 2002 which featured the traditional sailing vessels and surroundings of the Blackwater estuary.
Whilst 2003 saw “Black Rose” racing amongst 1700 vessels at the Round the Island Race - thus showing the colours at Cowes, Gosport and Portsmouth.

In this way she has followed in the footsteps of her older, smaller sister “Ostrea Rose”, who plied her trade for twenty years between Great Yarmouth and Dover and onward up to Tower Bridge in London. During this time, “Ostrea Rose” featured in many television programmes and appeared as subject matter in calendars, as well as being the basis of three books written by her skipper.

The season of 2004 will see her available for group charter, film location and high-class corporate entertainment whilst also visiting the prestigious festival of traditional sail at Brest in Brittany. She is also available to organisations interested in ecological, environmental and conservation studies and research.
